MONITORING
The monitoring of a feature over a period of time requires a particular approach with specialist equipment. Over the years, Dorset Land Surveying has been responsible for the establishment and ongoing monitoring of a wide variety of different features ranging from beach profiles to the stability of cliffs and steep slopes and of course the stability and verticality of buildings and walls. We are currently charged with the ongoing year on year monitoring of several slope stability projects and have successfully predicted failure of slopes before the failure occurred.
Modern software allows us to process monitoring data into a variety of different formats ranging from graphical deformation isopachyte plots (a mapped view of how much movement as occurred and over what extent) to simple digital spreadsheets and graphs showing month and month and total to date cumulative movement.
